Flóra Veres

My name is Flóra Veres – I am a dance artist, choreographer, creator, performer, and dance teacher.
I began my professional journey at the Hungarian Dance Academy and later deepened my knowledge in the Netherlands and Belgium. Through my creative work and various scholarships, I have traveled extensively – I have participated in dance and creative residencies in Spain, France, Germany, Sicily, and even the United States. In 2018, I earned my master’s degree in Performing Public Space from Fontys Academy of the Arts in the Netherlands.

Since 2017, under the name Talking Bodies, I have been creating interdisciplinary projects that place the body, movement, and dance at the center – as a primary language. In 2018, I became a resident artist at the L1 Association, and since 2019 I have been actively involved in the community as a member.

For me, art is a complex and multifaceted activity: teaching, improvisation, solo and group creation, workshops, festival organization, and project management all nourish and inform one another in my life.

Some significant milestones from recent years:
– In 2017 and 2018, I was the artistic director and main organizer of the World Dance Day Festival in Pécs.
– Since 2018, I have been leading my movement and sound improvisation research called Instinct Body Training.
– In 2019, I presented my performance I Have Never Been That Old, followed by One-in-One in 2020, both at MU Theatre, supported by the Imre Zoltán Program.
– Since 2020, I have been developing and performing my solo piece: with her all the movements died., which continually evolves based on my ongoing research and serves as an artistic reflection on the present moment.
– In 2023, my first dance film was completed – 27 – I Have Never Been That Old – directed by Réka Szűcs, in collaboration with the SAFE – Contemporary Art Studio and Film Archive. The choreography of the film was based on my 2019 performance I Have Never Been That Old.

My works continue to appear regularly on national and international stages, screens, and festivals.

My research project Remembrance of HOME (2021–2024) gave rise to my workshop Mother Within, which explores themes of motherhood, family patterns, legacies, and embodied memories.

In my work, I focus on the relationship to time and life-span, the starting point of personal stories, and reflections on social processes – all expressed through a personal, often self-ironic tone, shaded with bittersweet humor.

Veres Flóra vagyok – táncművész, koreográfus, alkotó, előadó és tánctanár. 

A Magyar Táncművészeti Főiskolán kezdtem szakmai utamat, majd Hollandiában és Belgiumban mélyítettem tovább tudásomat. Alkotói munkáim és ösztöndíjaim révén bejártam Spanyolországot, Franciaországot, Németországot, Szicíliát, és az Egyesült Államokba is eljutottam – táncos és alkotói rezidenciákon vettem részt. 2018-ban szereztem mesterdiplomát a hollandiai Fontys Művészeti Akadémia Performing Public Space szakán.

2017 óta Talking Bodies néven hozok létre összművészeti projekteket, amelyek középpontjában a test, a mozgás és a tánc áll, mint elsődleges nyelv. 2018-ban az L1 Egyesület rezidens művésze lettem, 2019 óta pedig aktív tagként veszek részt a közösség munkájában.

A művészet számomra komplex, sokrétű tevékenység: a tanítás, az improvizáció, a szóló- és csoportos alkotás, a workshopok, a fesztiválszervezés és a projektmenedzsment mind egymásból táplálkoznak az életemben.

Az utóbbi évek néhány fontosabb mérföldköve:
– 2017-ben és 2018-ban a Pécsi Tánc Világnapja Fesztivál művészeti vezetője és főszervezője voltam.
– 2018-tól  vezetem az Instinct Body Training mozgás- és hangimprovizációs kutatásomat.
– 2019-ben a Sosem Voltam Még Ennyi Se, majd 2020-ban az Egy az Egyben című előadásaimat mutattam be a MU Színházban, az Imre Zoltán Program támogatásával.
– 2020 óta formálom és játszom vele a mozdulat meghalt. című szólóelőadásomat, amely mindig az aktuális kutatásaimból építkezik, és a jelenre való művészi reflexióként működik.
– 2023-ban elkészült első táncfilmem – 27 – I Have Never Been That Old –, Szűcs Réka rendezésében, az Értékmegőrző SAFE – Kortárs Művészeti Stúdió és Filmarchívummal közösen. A film koreográfiai alapját a 2019-es Sosem Voltam Még Ennyi Se jelentette.

Alkotásaim azóta is rendszeresen szerepelnek hazai és nemzetközi színpadokon, filmvásznakon, fesztiválokon.

2021 és 2024 között zajló Remembrance of HOME című kutatásom hívta életre a Mother Within című workshopomat, amely az anyaság, családi minták, örökségek és testbe ágyazott emlékek témáit dolgozza fel.

Munkáimban az időhöz és életidőhöz való viszony, a személyes történetekből való kiindulás, valamint a társadalmi folyamatokra való reflektálás áll a középpontban – mindezt személyes, gyakran önironikus hangvétellel, keserédes humorral árnyalom.

Talking Bodies

– is a collective noun for the projects initiated by Flóra Veres. Since its birth it included 2 dance festivals (Dance Day Festival, Pécs, Hungary – 2017 and 2018), two solo works (_Depend On Me – 2017, With Her All The Movements Died – 2020), 3 dance pieces (Plantasia 2017, I was never this before – 2019, One in One – 2020) a public space project (Keep it Public 2018).

In her artistic experimentation she researches the relation of body and soul on a personal and social level; the possibilities of being in the present moment and how common listening and understanding works, using the maximum possibility of the body, voice and group energy and knowledge. She questions the relation of the person and the community, the personAL and the public.

Her mission is to create, in cooperation with other artists, projects that viewers can relate to or communities can participate in, a tangible experience, a space where new can be born. Mission is always to research the unknown, include the new and reach out to those who may be too far to join otherwise. With the support of all artforms, to research new language, so creating new ways in physicality and theater.
